“Do YOU listen to radio?”

(asked in Angels Camp)

“Yes, I do. I listen to 93.7, Jack-FM out of Sacramento! They play a wide variety of everything from rock and roll and R&B to oldies and jazz; pretty much everything! They play anything they want. They don’t take requests and they don’t do very many commercials. It’s just an overall entertaining radio station. Their whole claim to fame is: they play what they want, and that’s the way it goes! It comes in pretty good up here. There are no commercials in the morning and there’s no talk shows. They play music. My son, Jacob (age 3) likes to listen to the same thing we do. He rocks out with us! Jacob gets into it! Get’s his head goin’, and he dances around! He’s pretty entertaining, too!” – Jason Campbell, Valley Springs, (mechanic)

“Well, music is really important to me, and there’s always music going on around me. As far as the radio goes, I listen to Sirius Satellite Radio. My favorite station there would be the “Deep Tracks” (formerly called “Deep Cuts”), or any classic rock. And when I’m not listening to the radio, I listen to my favorite local band, Them Changes! I do wake up to Justin in the morning, (on Star 92.7 FM) with my alarm clock. I also listen to 104.1 FM, The Hawk, out of Modesto. I often will listen to The Hawk when I’m traveling about, in the car. Randy Maranz, I love Randy Maranz. I’ve been listening to him for years!” – Lynn Pardini, Angels Camp, (advanced clerk/secretary in home health care)

“I listen to the radio all the time! I normally listen to 104.1, The Hawk, from Modesto. I like classic rock – and “Hunter” in the afternoon, ‘cause he’s a pretty funny guy! Also, I listen to Jim Rome in the morning. It’s a sports talk show on KHTK, out of Sacramento. I just like sports talk, so I can keep up on the sports world.” – Tom Ferreira with his dog, Boo, Angels Camp, (vacuum store owner)

“Yes, I do. I’m a talk radio junkie. I like “Armstrong and Getty in the Morning” and Michael Savage on the way home. Both are on KSTE 650 AM, out of Sacramento. If I’m up real late, I listen to Mike Noory’s show “Coast to Coast” on KVML (1450 AM).  On weekends, I listen to NPR – a lot! I like their show “All Things Considered”. It’s news stories, generally, and interviews. And then they have a really fun word game show called “Wait, Wait, I Know That!” It’s hilarious! It’s all about words. And I listen to KVML for local news, especially when something’s going on. And Calaveras County really, seriously needs a radio station! We seriously do. The first guy who puts up $50,000, I’ll be happy to work it! There’s a radio station in Jackson; one in Sonora – nothing in this county!” – Jeffrey Kitchell, San Andreas, (gas station service attendant)

“Well, I like KVML because it’s got Rush Limbaugh. I’m one of his “Ditto Heads”, and I listen to him EVERYDAY! He’s my man! He’s right 99.9% of the time. But I can’t let some of my friends know how I feel, or they might ostracize me. They probably wouldn’t let me join them on any more fishing or hunting trips. Oh, yeah, and I also like Big Joe and Bridgette in the Morning on KKBN (93.5 FM). They play some pretty good country music.  And they’re funny! I also love that guy in the afternoon, “Mark Corona”! Yee Hah!” –  name withheld by request.)
