“How was YOUR summer?” (asked in East Sonora)
“Summer was excellent! I tried to do everything! Took the kids to Pinecrest Lake; went to Kennedy Meadows for horseback riding; went to fiddle lessons in Modesto; went to Sedona, AZ and saw ‘Snoopy Rock’. I just got back from Austin, Texas to see ‘bank-track’ roller derby – the highlight of the summer!!” – Left: Karen Aldridge, Jamestown, (cycle shop events planner/roller derby girl) . It was a really great summer! No vacation because I’m too committed to (roller) derby, but we did do our typical camping things, like Cherry Lake every year for the Fourth of July, and Wright’s Beach, by Bodega Bay! It’s nice! “My summer was fun! It was very hot. Didn’t like how hot it got, but I went jet-skiing a lot and had a bit of fun swimming in the pool at my house, and drinking. Tried to stay cool for the most part. “It was good. I watched TV and went swimming. I watched Cartoon Network. I like “Batman, The Brave and the Bold”! I went swimming at Sonora High School and the Tuolumne pool! I also went to the lake (Melones) all the time! I like to jump off the rocks! I also went to the Mother Lode Fair. It was lots of rides, lots of candy! Lots of stuff to eat! “It was great! I loved it! I’m a little bit nervous about going to Curtis Creek (Elementary), but I think I’ll love it there. Sullivan Creek (Elementary) is the only school I’ve ever gone to. But my summer was great! I went to the pool in Sonora Meadows. It was really fun there, especially on hot days! I went to the pool a lot with my friends! I also went bike riding with my dad and my brother, Ruben! It was really fun! We also went to San Francisco, and to the Rain Forest Café! I love it there! And, we went to the beach! I heard that if you get too close to the big waves, and when it’s coming back, it can suck you in! So, I was really careful of that.” – Karina Herrera, Sonora Meadows, (4th grade student)
“It was good! It was kind of a little busy ‘cause I go to kung fu and went to swimming lessons – and a thing called ‘Mad About Science Camp’ at Columbia College! We did go to a water park, in Roseville, with my best friend, Karina, and that was pretty fun! I also went to Girl Scout Camp at Camp Golden Timbers! That was awesome! It was a good summer!
