Another popular week at www.sierramountaintimes.com. Here is what people had to say:
“As the gas guzzlers are phased out by cost effectiveness and oil prices, the 1930’s style production line and its slavery, annual model change for the sake of change and planned obsolescence in products may disappear along with ‘throwaways’ or ‘disposable’ resources designed to maximize profits for corporations. The party is over! Abundances in America have been exhausted! Instead of looking backwards, or at how Europeans have survived all these years, we must innovate, using the best modern discoveries and technologies. Greediest corporations must merge, buy, sell or otherwise trim themselves down to the ‘best, cheapest, fastest, least resource consuming’ responses to our needs. I will watch their opportunistic cannibalism with great satisfaction, knowing that now that the chips are down, they must serve me and my environment to survive themselves!” – Uncle B, in response to Wayne Kirkbride’s August 8th article on the electric car.
“This is truly awesome! I’ll visit there sometime next year after I have my transplant. I want to see more of the USA before I’m not able to drive again.” – Wow, in response to Thomas Atkins’ July 18th article on the Old Big Oak Flat Road into Yosemite.
“Hello to you energetic persons who are filling such a need in Sonora. We are so fortunate to have you! Once long ago, just during the summer, we undertook a great togetherness for students 8-18 and called it Tuolumne Co Summer Theater for Kids. The show was “Guys and Dolls”. Many who I meet, still remember those “hot summer days and nights” in Sonora High auditorium (which had no air conditioning). My purpose in writing is that as probably the “oldest now” sage of theater here – I would like very much to donate to those who might have the interest: scripts, scores, teaching and coaching materials possibly even musical presentation copies of the originals. Let me know the (if and how) of such an endeavor and I shall surely be happy to return your contact. Great year to you all!” – Lindi Lindstrom, in response to Thomas Atkins’ January 25th article about Sonora Children’s Theatre’s First Production.
“Good info. Thank you.” – Cindy Moore, in response to Hope Nessl’s August 15th Fashion Column.
“Enjoyed the history lesson Wayne. I’d like to include your article on my website.” - David, in response to Wayne Kirkbride’s August 8th article on the electric car.
There were more, so stay tuned next week!
