Cheese Wafers (Some parental participation required)
Try these tasty wafers for an after school snack. Store the wafers in an airtight container. You can change this snack by brushing egg white on the wafer before
baking and sprinkling one side with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, celery seeds or more grated cheese.
You will need:
½ pound sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup butter, softened
½ teaspoon salt
11/4 cup flour
¼ teaspoon dry mustard
¼ teaspoon paprika
Read all the directions and wash your hands well before you begin.
1. Grate the cheese into a medium size bowl.
2. Add butter, salt, flour, mustard and paprika.
3. With your clean hands squish together until well mixed and smooth.
4. Shape into a roll 2 inches across.
5. Wrap the roll in waxed paper and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
6. Ask a parent to help you pre-heat the oven to 350°.
7. Butter a cookie sheet.
8. Slice like you would a refrigerator cookie.
9. Place wafers on the cookie sheet and bake10 minutes or until lightly browned and done.
