Another popular week at www.sierramountaintimes.com. Here is what people had to say:
“I attended the Art & Wine Festival with six friends on Sunday and we had a great time. I try to get up to Twain Harte often for its “mountain village” atmosphere. Though there are a dozen restaurants to choose from in Twain Harte, I agree the Cottage Cafe is a great eatery. Loved your article on the Red Hills.” – Sandy Gordon, in response to Greg Kristapovich’s photo essay on the Twain Harte Art and Wine Festival.
“Awesome!” – M, in response to Thomas Atkins’ article on the Old Big Oak Flat Road.
“I am a member of the Round Valley Indian Tribes and also a descendant of the Nomlacki Tribe. Therefore my great grandfather’s people were among those driven from Chico to Round Valley. Every year in September there is a memorial walk to commemorate the “drive” of our people across what is now the Mendocino National Forest. Thank you for bringing to light the crimes committed against my people and to Mr. Lombardi for his sentiments. Yet when the State of California is approached in regards to a “recognized” paid holiday for Native Americans, I have been informed that it has already been vetoed and the State of California cannot afford another paid legal holiday. For more information regarding the Annual Nome Cult Walk in September, please contact Mrs. Alberta Azbill, Executive Secretary, Round Valley Indian Tribes at (707) 983-6126.” – Danielle Henthorne Hurt, in response to Wayne Kirkbride’s July 25th article on the Mendocino Wars and the Trail of Tears.
“Simply amazing! It is now on my to do list!” – Trish, in response to Thomas Atkins’ article on the Old Big Oak Flat Road.
